What’s up, guys?! These first few months have been crazy and I’m really excited to share them with you!

First of all, let me introduce myself. I’m Anita, and I’m an international student from Madrid, Spain. This is my second year here in the US, I’m currently living in Richmond, VA, and I’m a senior at The Steward School. I came back to Steward for my second year after spending the whole summer in Spain. It was awesome seeing everyone again, but it was sad having to leave my friends in Spain for a year, especially my best friend in Spain, Anyways, I was so excited to see my best friends again after almost three months, which is a lot considering that I was used to seeing them literally every day, but it was also so hard saying goodbye to my best friend Amy, who was on the plane with me.

When I first got back to Steward, the first people I saw were Gracie and Lyndda laying down on the floor at the colonnade while I was running towards them, and I hugged them so hard that I couldn’t even breathe. I saw so many people that day, and I was so happy… I knew I made the right decision by coming back for another year and that it was the right choice even though my parents weren’t really happy about it (but they still supported me).

Tennis practice started way before school started and it killed me. I hadn’t had done any sports since last year’s tennis season and I was sooooo out of shape so it took some getting used to.  But after that, it was great as I improved a lot (I got to play number 5 in the lineup multiple times) and our team was number one in our division! We have states in a week so… wish us luck!!!

One of the most memorable moments from my experience was definitely Homecoming. It was so fun! Finding a dress was excruciating but I found one that I liked after hours of looking with my friends. I got asked by a great friend of mine, Julian. He asked me with a poster in Spanish which was pretty cute.

On the morning of Homecoming, I got ready with two of my best friends and their dates: Nayeli and the other Spaniard, Andrea. We went to a really nice Chinese restaurant and took cute pictures. The dance was amazing. Everyone was there. After the dance, there was a party and it was super fun. After that, I was super sad because I realized that it was going to be my last homecoming at steward and I wasn’t going to be here next year.

I can’t wait for all the other activities the senior class will do.

See you next month!!
